Dr. Michael J. Weitz, O.D., completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, where he majored in English and pre-med. He went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and later completed a residency in vision training at the State University of New York.
Dr. Weitz is a diplomate of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control and a past president of both the Central Maryland Optometric Association and the Optometric Council of the National Capital Area. His expertise has been recognized nationally, with interviews on National Public Radio regarding advances in contact lenses and on ABC-TV discussing orthokeratology. He has also served internationally, consulting on myopia control in China on four occasions.
For many years, Dr. Weitz has cared for patients in the Bethesda/Chevy Chase community and has been a valued member of the Bethesda Vision Care team for the past decade, working in a part-time capacity. Beyond his clinical work, he has been personally dedicated to yoga and meditation for more than fifty years. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, biking, playing table tennis, and connecting with friends—and especially cherishes the opportunity to engage with patients.
